PM: Last 12 hours have been somewhat uneventful. The waves have definitely
gotten bigger and the ship is rolling up to 25 degrees at times. It cleared up
a little bit last evening and everybody came out on the deck to look around.
The outside temperature has definitely fallen quite a bit. We are more than
halfway through the Drake Passage and should be arriving near Palmer tomorrow
night. The plan is to spend all of tomorrow night putting our plankton nets and
collecting pteropods. Actually, we are hoping to collect other things
too – like copepods, krill and even squid larvae. While pteropods are our main
objective, we are absolutely ready to study these other animals.
